Scholarships

The application process is now closed. We will begin accepting applications in March 2025. Anyone interested in applying should review requirements for the scholarship below, including the Sample Documents.

• Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or above on an un-weighted 4.0 scale
• Minimum ACT composite score of 18 or SAT equivalent score
• Accepted for admission to an accredited four-year college or university
• Attending 4 Year College/University in the Fall 
• Documentation of community service
• Strong Character, Integrity and Perseverance 
• Be an African-American resident of the United States residing in Louisiana, preferably in the Greater New Orleans area.

The Application Form and the following documents MUST be submitted electronically by the deadline.

• One (1) Recommendation from a Teacher or Counselor* 
• One (1) Recommendation from a Ministry Leader of your Church*
• One (1) Community Service Verification letter*
• Official Transcript of coursework completed through 1st semester senior year
• ACT/SAT scores
• College Acceptance Letter from an accredited four-year college or university​
• FAFSA (EFC) or SAR form

NOTE: The application requires a Personal Statement - an essay that provides additional information about the applicant's attributes and aspirations, and specifically how receiving this scholarship will help in accomplishing educational and post-educational goals.

* These forms are only accepted online through the submission system, and must be submitted by the person the applicant identifies in the application.  See below for access to sample documents.

• Applicants are notified via email of receipt of application at time of submission.
• Applications are assigned to an independent screening committee for initial review no later than the day following the close of the application process.
• Applicants meeting the scoring criteria will move to an interview stage.
• Applicants not moving to interview stage and those not selected as a recipient will be notified by the Liaison.
• The names of the top 3 scorers will be forwarded by the screening committee to the Board of Directors for final approval.
• Recipients will be notified of their award and must submit a signed Requirements for Renewal of Scholarship document.
• Recipients MUST attend special awards ceremony at Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA to be recognized for their award.
